Do not put anything in the subject line of the message. In the body of the message put the following information, and only the following information (if you use a signature file in your e-mail messages, make sure it is deleted for this message):
subscribe ARDLA-l your name
For example, if John Doe were joining the list, he would send the following message:
subscribe ARDLA-l John Doe
All requests to join the list are sent to the moderator who is responsible for approving requests. The list is private and only authorized ARDLA members and officers may join. The listserv is moderated by David Merrifield at the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville campus.
